But Ukraine striker Artem Dovbyk equalized three minutes before halftime when he was set up by countryman Viktor Tsyhankov for his team-high seventh goal of the season.Brazilian winger Sávio put the visitors ahead in the 65th when he finished off a Dovbyk shot that was blocked by goalkeeper Stole Dimitrievski.Girona opened up a five-point gap over Real Madrid, which hosts Valencia later Saturday.Girona, which two seasons ago was in the second division, is partly controlled by Manchester City’s Abu Dhabi ownership even though it has one of the lowest payrolls in the league of just 51 million euros ($54 million). The numbers are impressive for the Catalonia team that is in only its fourth season in the top flight in club history. KOLKATA, India (AP) — England bowed out of the Cricket World Cup with a 93-run consolation win over Pakistan on Saturday, and Mitchell Marsh recorded his career-best ODI score as semifinal-bound Australia beat Bangladesh by eight wickets.England finished seventh in the 10-team table with three victories from nine games in its disappointing campaign to defend the title it won at home in 2019, but it did manage to qualify for the 2025 Champions Trophy.Ben Stokes’ 76-ball 84 formed the foundation of England’s strong total of 337-9 as Pakistan’s slim hopes of overtaking New Zealand on net run-rate for a place in the semifinal effectively ended once Jos Buttler won the toss and elected to bat.Left-arm fast bowler David Willey claimed 3-56 in 10 overs in his last one-day international to leave with 100 ODI wickets as Pakistan was bowled out for 244 with another timid batting display by its top-order batters. The last-wicket pair of Haris Rauf, who made 35, and Mohammad Wasim (16 not out) n...

LONDON (AP) — William Saliba scored his first goal of the season as Arsenal climbed into second place in the Premier League with a 3-1 home win over Burnley on Saturday despite finishing the game with 10 men. Saliba headed home a corner to restore Arsenal’s lead in the 57th minute, shortly after Josh Brownhill had equalized against the run of play at the Emirates. In a game that largely took place inside the Burnley half, Leandro Trossard opened the scoring just before the halftime break and Oleksandr Zinchenko made the game safe with a leaping volley in the 74th. That two-goal cushion proved comforting when substitute Fabio Vieira was sent off in the 83rd with a studs-up challenge on Brownhill.Arsenal bounced back from its first league loss of the season at Newcastle last weekend to move above Tottenham, which lost 2-1 at Wolverhampton earlier Saturday. The Gunners are level on 27 points with leader Manchester City, which visits Chelsea on Sunday. Arsenal went ahead just befo...

SUN CITY, South Africa (AP) — Max Homa will take a one-shot lead into the final round of the Nedbank Golf Challenge after the American shot a 3-under 69 on Saturday. The eighth-ranked Homa had gone error free at the tournament until he bogeyed a par-3 fourth hole during his shaky start of the third round. But he recovered by making two birdies and holed a bunker shot for eagle on the par-5 10th hole at the Gary Player Country Club.“I hit the ball really well coming down the last nine or 10 holes,” Homa said. “I didn’t hole anything putting wise, but I made a nice bunker shot for eagle on ten which helped.”Frenchman Matthieu Pavon entered the day sharing the lead with Homa. He slid one shot back after his 70. Danish pair Nicolai Hojgaard and Thorbjorn Olesen are both two shots behind. Defending champion Tommy Fleetwood is six shots adrift in a share of eighth.Homa has six titles on the PGA Tour but has yet to get a win abroad. Victor Lindelof’s goal eases the pressure on Ten Hag as Man United beats Luton 1-0

MANCHESTER, England (AP) — Victor Lindelof’s goal eased the pressure on Erik ten Hag as Manchester United beat Luton 1-0 in the Premier League on Saturday. The center back swept home a 59th-minute winner at Old Trafford to secure back-to-back league wins for United for only the second time this season. United manager Ten Hag has come under increasing pressure after his team’s disappointing start to the campaign. But victory against Luton was a positive response to Wednesday’s Champions League defeat in Copenhagen. Lindelof was an unlikely goal scorer when the defender fired through a crowded penalty area after Marcus Rashford’s cross rebounded to him. Rasmus Hojlund had missed good chances in either half before the opener. A cause for concern for Ten Hag were injuries to Christian Eriksen and Hojlund, which required both to be substituted. But the priority was to get back to winning ways after a ninth defeat of the season against Copenhagen on Wednesday left ...
