Facing legal peril, Trump calls on GOP to rally around him as he threatens primary challenges

Published Fri, 07 Feb 2025 10:19:25 GMT

NEW YORK (AP) — At a moment of growing legal peril, Donald Trump ramped up his calls for his GOP rivals to drop out of the 2024 presidential race as he threatened to primary Republican members of Congress who fail to focus on investigating Democratic President Joe Biden and urged them to halt Ukrainian military aid until the White House cooperates with their investigations into Biden and his family.“Every dollar spent attacking me by Republicans is a dollar given straight to the Biden campaign,” Trump said at a rally in Erie, Pennsylvania, on Saturday night. The former president and GOP front-runner said it was time for Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and others he dismissed as “clowns” to clear the field, accusing them of “wasting hundreds of millions of dollars that Republicans should be using to build a massive vote-gathering operation” to take on Biden in November. The comments came two days after federal prosecutors unveiled new criminal charges against Trump as part of the case that ...

TTC changing subway wait times at night on both Line 1 and 2

Published Fri, 07 Feb 2025 10:19:25 GMT

The TTC is altering wait times for nighttime subway service on both Line 1 and Line 2 starting this week as part of a series of updated route and service changes.Starting Monday, the wait time between trains from 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. Monday to Friday on both the Yonge-University and Bloor-Danforth lines will be five minutes, an increase of one minute from the current wait time. After 10 p.m., the wait time between trains on Yonge-University will also be five minutes, a change of two minutes from the current standard, while the wait time between trains on the Bloor-Danforth line will be up to six minutes.Transit advocate groups say one minute might not sound like much but any delay creates a ripple effect which means a longer wait time overall and may cause riders to miss possible surface connections, which could mean an additional 15 or 20-minute wait for the next bus or streetcar due to previous cuts made on those routes. No reason was given for the changes but the transit agency has...
