Canyon Lake drops to lowest level on record as drought persists SAN MARCOS, Texas (KXAN) — Canyon Lake has dropped to its lowest lake pool elevation ever recorded, according to data from the Texas Water Development Board.As of Sept. 1, the water level is at 892.38' above mean sea level. The previous record low was 892.70' on Sept. 8, 2009.The lake is west of San Marcos and is the main water source for the city, along with the Edwards Aquifer and the San Marcos River, both of which are also seeing low levels."With all our water sources experiencing low levels, SMTX Utilities is taking extra steps to encourage water conservation in our community," Tyler Hjorth, the city's director of utilities, said. But several districts in Central Texas – and across the rest of the state – won’t have an armed person at every school today.  In recent months, school board trustees in Leander, Bastrop, Hays, and Dripping Springs have passed resolutions claiming a good cause exemption to the law over lack of funding and qualified applicants.The bill requires school districts that claim an exemption to also establish an alternative standard and plan. Willmar police officers credited with saving life of stricken visitor at Minnesota State Fair A Minneapolis man’s life could have ended at the Great Minnesota Get-Together were it not for the swift actions of visiting law enforcement officers from Willmar.On Saturday, Willmar police Sgt. Samuel Schaefbauer and officer Timothy Wallace were working with the Minnesota State Fair Police Department when a person waved them down and said a man had collapsed in the Kidway, a location east of the Grandstand featuring rides and games for children.According to a news release from the State Fair Police Department, shared by Willmar Police Chief Jim Felt, Wallace and Schaefbauer were on the scene within seconds. Wastewater monitoring to shift from Met Council to the UMN Medical School, MN health department Minnesota is changing its COVID-19 wastewater reporting system.As of Sept. 1, the Metropolitan Council no longer will be testing samples for SARS-CoV-2 — the virus that causes COVID-19. Rensselaer man sentenced for attempted robbery ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Nahsir Chestnut, 22, of Rensselaer, was sentenced in Albany County Court on Friday morning.
